Have you ever felt the pain of heartbreak? Or maybe the hurt of losing someone? Pain is a part of a broken and sin-filled world, and unfortunately, every human on this planet will experience it.
Personally, I experienced it again when I witnessed the murder of George Floyd by four individual police officers. The very people that were supposed to protect, did the opposite of their calling in this instance. I can only imagine the pain and suffering that those who were close to George are currently feeling in the wake of this horrific and tragic event.
While we don’t have all the answers, and often we find that words don’t console as much as we’d want them to, one thing is true – the nearness of God in broken situations to comfort and console his people. God has always been in the business of helping and saving the broken-hearted and crushed in spirit. God is with us now, and in our midst, even if we don’t see Him working in the way that we’d want to. Trust Him, and feel His ever-near presence today.
PRAYER: Father, help us to perceive your nearness and to be open to commune with you, today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
