Mind Renewal
Pastor Frank Aprea
Romans 12:2 (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The principle of renewing our mind is so vital in our maturation as followers of Jesus Christ. When we commit our lives to Jesus and are spiritually reborn, the scripture says we become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). This happens instantly when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We are exhorted in Romans 12:2 that we are now responsible for renewing our minds. We have thought a certain way for years; this world system has shaped how we think, and it is in our mind that we make our free will choices…

If we are going to grow spiritually, we need to take the scriptures and begin to conform the way we think to what God’s Word says. As we read scripture and begin to think about it and ask the Holy Spirit to show us what it means, we begin to believe it and make God’s Word a part of us. We start to think as God thinks. When we do this, then we will be able to know what God’s will is for us – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, as I commit to the principle of renewing my mind, I pray that as I read Your Word, the Holy Spirit will help me to understand it. As I understand it and begin to do what the scripture says, show me your will, oh God, your good, pleasing and perfect will for me. Thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
