A Fixed Purpose
Pastor Randal Alquist
Proverbs 4:25-27 (TPT) Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions. Watch where you’re going! Stick to the path of truth, and the road will be safe and smooth before you. Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked for even a moment or take the detour that leads to darkness.

I remember when my first child, Mikayla, was born. At once there was a joy and love that I had, previously, not known and an overwhelming reality that everything was now different. If I was honest, the 25-year-old me was both full of hope and panic. Many times in life we find ourselves in situations that cause our feelings to be on the opposite side of the spectrum at the same time; new house and new bills, new marriage and new stress, new job and new insecurities.

As we are closer toward the other side of this whole COVID crisis, what are you feeling? If you are like me, there are still some caution signs on the road ahead but also excitement in moving forward. The question we might want to ask is what do we choose to focus on: Hope or Hopelessness? Let’s resolve to set our gaze on the path before us. With a fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, and ignoring life’s distractions.

PRAYER: Father, as we proceed through this time of isolation and measured fear we choose to not get distracted. I choose to trust in you and your grace for my life. I want to be on the path you have drawn for me. I long to be in the purpose you have spoken over my life. I desire to be a light during this time of darkness with your love guiding me as a lamp unto my feet.
